Gould used this Canadian passport, issued on March 6, 1962 and valid for "all countries", during his career as a touring concert pianist. View a selection of pages in HTML format. Gould's European debut was made in the Soviet Union in Moscow in May 1957. He was the first North American pianist, and the first Canadian musician, to appear in the Soviet Union after the end of World War II.
