Danielle Simard has written five novels -- one for each school day -- featuring her hero Julien Potvin. Friday's story, Le macaroni du vendredi, illustrates how something as simple as the preparation of an oral presentation can get seriously out of hand. It is all a question of perception and interpretation. Odile has asked each of her students to talk about something they are especially talented in outside of school. A simple request; but for Julien, things quickly get muddled and complicated. Eager to impress his friends, he goes too far and steals the medieval castle that his sister and her classmates built out of dried noodles. To make matters worse, he rejects all of his mother's well-meaning suggestions, lies to his father and quarrels with his best friend Michaël. Will he succeed in spite of everything, or will his ruse end in disaster?

Who better to illustrate a story than its author? Danielle Simard has given special importance to her lively illustrations, some of which conjure the darker side of her appealing hero's world.
