Alone in his room, surrounded by countless toys, little Boustru -- an orphan -- refuses to let the magic of Christmas enter his huge mansion. Nothing and no one can assuage his hatred of Christmas Eve festivities -- not the lively songs of the street kids, nor the faithful servants who look after him. Suddenly, a little mouse appears. By offering the unhappy boy a glimpse into Christmas past, present and future, she helps him discover the true meaning of the holiday he has not celebrated since the loss of his parents.
