Annotated Award-Winning Titles
This book tells fascinating true stories of people who have survived dramatic events and accidents. They include the story of the Thomson family, who escaped a tornado when they were camping near Red Deer, Alberta; the story of Val Plumwood, who was attacked and injured by a crocodile in Australia; and the story of Michael Higson, who managed to escape from the North Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. At the end of each story, the author gives some advice to follow in dangerous situations. The narration is clear and measured, and the stories are short and entertaining, which makes the book very hard to put down. –FO |
