This bilingual book offers enchanting winter scenes in which two children go snowshoeing in the forest with their grandfather. They observe many animals in their natural habitat, including an ermine, black-capped chickadees, a snowy owl, a hare and a grouse.
The delicate illustrations in gouache painted on coloured paper by Daniela Zekina are an accurate and sensitive representation of the natural setting and the characters' expressive faces. Many clues are hidden in the illustrations, providing a guessing game for young readers.
