Alone in his room, surrounded by countless toys, little Boustru -- an orphan -- refuses to let the magic of Christmas enter his huge mansion. Nothing and no one can assuage his hatred of Christmas Eve festivities -- not the lively songs of the street kids, nor the faithful servants who look after him. Suddenly, a little mouse appears. By offering the unhappy boy a glimpse into Christmas past, present and future, she helps him discover the true meaning of the holiday he has not celebrated since the loss of his parents.

Interpreted by Lucie Papineau and Stéphane Poulin, this marvellous version of the celebrated Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens captures the essence of Christmas spirit: an opening of the heart inspired by compassion for those less fortunate, and the triumph of sharing and friendship over material possessions. Lucie Papineau, creator of the famous series featuring Gilda the giraffe and her friends, reinvents this great literary classic in a way that is guaranteed to keep young children entertained. With meticulous attention to detail, Stéphane Poulin, illustrator of award-winning titles such as Benjamin et la saga des oreillers and Poil de serpent, dent d'araignée, portrays this cast of endearing animal characters.
